Any people who have been to Victoria, and many who haven’t know about the large number of homeless people in the downtown core. As I walk the downtown streets quite often I find it tough having so many people ask me for change. When I lived in Calgary and I didn’t go downtown so often I could help out a person most of the time when they asked, but here I find my pockets empty soon after getting downtown. I’m sure other residents of Victoria would know what I’m talking about.
I have had the pleasure of sitting down and talking with a couple great men that I met downtown. They always have an amazing story to tell, or a different interesting way of looking at the world we live in. If you have a couple minuets to spare next time someone is asking for change I challenge you to really meet the person, and find out what you could do for them that really helps.

This past week I met Duncan and his friend Geo (not shown). We hung out for a couple hours on a Tuesday night making perogies. I have no doubt they tasted many times better than any you could buy in a restaurant. They were both really great guys and I hope to meet them again some time soon.

Thanks to Duncan and Geo for showing me a great night, and more insightful ways of looking at the things we see every day

I didn’t quite manage to find all of those ferocious creatures, but for Victoria I think I’m doing quite well?

I have been spending many hours walking around downtown with other students from school, meeting some amazing people. I didn’t meet this guy, just snapped a picture because it needed to be done

Our first assignment at the Western Academy of Photography was a scavenger hunt sending us all over Victoria in search of the touristy and or significant places. The list was over 20 long so I won’t be showing everything, just a couple ones that I enjoy a lot. The other part of the assignment that was a fun challenge is trying to get the shot in one single frame, instead of digital’s classic guess, check, guess, check, guess…
The World’s Tallest Totem Pole

Sunrise this one was a fun challenge, myself Steve Jon and Matt decided it would be easier to stay up until sunrise rather than trying to convince ourselves to get up at 5am

This shot of a gargoyle wasn’t on the list, but it was taken last week on a night when I didn’t have much else happening.

The Butterfly Effect is the propensity of a system to be sensitive to initial conditions. Such systems over time become unpredictable, this idea gave rise to the notion of a butterfly flapping it’s wings in one area of the world, causing a tornado or some such weather event to occur in another remote area of the world.

The smallest motions that we have control of, or effect, may cause change for somebody in a real noticeable way.

Think about it
