Hi Reuben

Nice bit of writing on DR. When I started out in photography I was shooting mainly slide/transparency film like Fuji Velvia and Kodak Ektachrome. A tip I gleaned from a magazine was to squint my eyes to get an idea of the contrast or DR in a scene. By squinting the shadow/dark areas go really dark and thus I am able to "see" which areas will be blocked up when exposing for the high lights. I still use this technique for digital photography. Another possible method would be to stop down the lens using the DOF preview button with the lens stopped all the way down. Personally I find the squint method very simple and effective.

Amen, brother! Photoshop is the bad photographer's makeup. The processing gimmicks are really heavily overused and abused. Nothing beats a good photograph. Its only good if it can stand on its own, without the help of the digital plastic surgeon. I love Chris's saying, "Shoot like its film" - - that sums it up. Love your work!

Last year around this time, my cousin and his best friend flew to canada from Australia. This was thier first time to Canada in 17 years. I decided to take them on a 4 day ski trip to Marmot and Sunshine. While in Marmot we were near the top by the Knob shredding through the trees. i looked back and realised that we lost my cousin, took the skis off and walked up to find him over his head in snow, He fell into a hole full of snow. He had to "swim" out. The skiing/boarding trip ever.

Well, these shirts are pretty dope, therefore in my effort to win one, even though i lack in stories recently. On our recent ski trip, which involved as much drinking as skiing, if not more drinking. So were on a chair lift at about 1pm, and have been drinking all day on the hill. So four of us line up to get on the quad chair. Our one buddy is looking back and talking to the group behind us. And while we all sit down, he forgets to sit down (lets just say he was probably to drunk to be anywhere near a ski hill). The chair then pushes him down into, the area below, he has no idea what is going on and stand back up, we yell at him to sit down, as the chair missed his head by inches. The lift attendant who could tell he was just wasted decided to not stop the lift and just laughed as he had to hike his way back up to the chair. One of the most hilarious experience I have had at a ski hill in a long time. Anyway even if i don't win im sure you will enjoy that story haha.
