Stars and Sunrises
Sometimes I wish I was more of a morning person, mainly because of sunrises. Twice in the last month I’ve gotten myself up for the sunrise and it has been incredibly rewarding.
This first sunrise was taken from Mt Doug (yes another picture from there, its one of the few high places in Victoria and has a pretty great view) Looking towards Washington, and Mt Baker.

The following pictures were taken on Saltspring Island. My roommate and myself went for a short weekend trip to the island camping at Ruckle Park on the south end of the island. As it was only a short last minuet trip, and the island offers all the amenities one could possibly want, so I spent little time packing. The clothes on my back, a sleeping bag and a 6 man tent.

Trouble is, even though we are on the Coast, it still is winter. I had a 14 year old sleeping bag, it was designed for spring/summer camping, and meant for a person at least 1 foot shorter than me. I was using a half thick yoga mat for a sleeping pad (basically on the ground), with normal street clothing, in a six man tent with two people. Needless to say it was a bit of a chilly night camping beside the ocean.
After I had enough of freezing to death I got out of the tent at least 2 hours before sunrise to run around and do jumping jacks until my body started to warm up. This also gave me the opportunity to take some pictures of stars, followed by the sunrise.
