This multisport shoot in Stanley Park was built on short notice to help Decathlon introduce itself to Vancouver.

The client’s goals were to integrate landmarks, leaving space for ad copy, and approve each image with a remote designer live during the shoot. That meant fine tuning model expression, image composition, movement, and natural lighting that the viewer couldn’t identify were artificially lit.

We built this commercial shoot quickly using remote scouting to build a schedule that could complete the cycling shoot early in the morning in case of harsh light, where we needed to follow the one-way-only route of the Stanley Park Seawall and include the Lionsgate bridge. Then, late morning we photographed the hiking, utilizing backlit forest on west facing slopes, and diffusion over the model to avoid hot spots on the product. Finally, the early golden hour jogging was captured by Siwash Rock which needed to be in frame, and, crucially be clear of surrounding public. Without restricting public access we had to do a couple One More Time’s but managed to find the clean frames we needed.
